| 9:00 -10:00 am | Plenary Session: The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning & Student Outcomes Assessment: Building Bridges Pat Hutchings, The Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching The scholarship of teaching and learning and student outcomes assessment share some core values and practices. But they have different histories, champions, methods, and strengths, and the two movements have not really converged. In this session we will look at how they can contribute to, draw on, and enrich each other in ways that strengthen both, and support higher education’s teaching and learning mission. |

| 11:30 am – 12:30 pm | Plenary Session: Where is scholarship of teaching and learning in the Canadian assessment landscape? Getting to the heart of the matter! Pierre Zundel, University of Sudbury This interactive session will outline pressures, trends and approaches to assessment in Canadian post-secondary education and identify the reasons why scholarship of teaching and learning must be a prominent feature in that landscape. It will illustrate this with a concrete example and invite participants to imagine and share how they can link scholarship of teaching and learning with the assessment practices underway in and around their institutions. |
| 12:30 – 2:00 pm | Buffet Lunch and Ongoing Discussion Please continue the dialogue about assessment, scholarship, and institutional capacity over lunch and also use this time for networking and collaboration. |
| 2:00 – 3:00 pm | Plenary Session: So much assessment, so little improvement - Lessons from the Wabash Study Charles Blaich, The Center of Inquiry at Wabash College As Director of the Center of Inquiry at Wabash College and the Higher Education Data Sharing Consortium, Charles Blaich is at the centre of the United States’ assessment movement, and will share some of the ways that scholarship of teaching and learning can and should interface with ongoing practices. |
